There are many occassions where I have been asked 'How did you come up with this idea?'
It all started on one hot sunny day somewhere in the not so distant past, I was sitting in the Beer Garden of my local Public House and daydreaming about new and different ways in which to make photographs, at the time I was spending some considerable amount of hours on Instagram, the infamous photo-sharing media site and I was finding that there were a lot of images that looked pretty much the same, the same subject and the same angle, I wanted to be different and so I experimented. I took shots of beer barrels, but they were not exciting enough! I took shots of people, but there aren't too many super models in my village, after a lot of trial and error I then threw a peanut in my beer and watched the bubbles Fizz and jump around and then cling to the peanut, I watched and stared at the beauty of it. VOILA!!! bubble photography was born!!
I love the way bubbles seem to have character, they can be small and cheeky, or big and slow, or shiny and bright, but whichever character they are, they are beautiful and very photogenic. They appear to grow from nowhere and then go to nowhere, they are mystical and magical. For me bubbles conjure up images of mothers blowing soap bubbles in the garden for their small children, giving me a feeling of ssecutiy, happiness and love.Yes it is safe to say that Bubbles make me extremely happy and I am very glad to have this opportunity to be able to share this with you in the hope that you will spend the time and have the same enjoyment out of bubbles as I do.
Here's a few of my very first bubble shots, as you can see they needed a lot of work.
Once I uploaded my first bubble pictures onto instagram I found that my bubble pictures were a hit! I couldn't believe that other people enjoyed my bubbles, it was such a pleasant surprise. Within a few months I found that my bubbles were taking over Instagram, I was receiving recognition from accounts such as @joshjohnson @most_deserving @igsg @Photowall @fabshots ... Which you can imagine made me oh so happy!!!!
These were some or the images that were reposted and recognized by these large instagram accounts;
This Cherry image was my first image to win me real money. I entered a 'Healthy Living' Contest on the gang family account and received 2nd prize, a grand total of 40 Euros!
